Whether planning a few garden fireworks to share with friends, creating a wedding fireworks display, or even your bonfire nights fireworks, then your first priority has to be safety!
Adults should be the only people to light fireworks - young people should simply watch and enjoy! It’s also important after the event, that adults take care of the safe disposal of used fireworks.
As edge ever-nearer to November 5th, here are our top 10 fireworks safety tips ensuring a safe and fun time can be had by all:
- Plan your firework display to make it safe and enjoyable.
- Store fireworks in a closed, dry box and use them one at a time.
- Read and follow the instructions on each firework using a torch.
- Light the firework at arm's length with a taper and stand well back.
- Keep naked flames, including cigarettes, away from fireworks.
- Never return to a firework once it has been lit.
- Don't put fireworks in pockets and never throw them.
- Direct any rocket fireworks well away from spectators.
- Never use paraffin or petrol on a bonfire.
- Make sure that the fire is out and surroundings are made safe before leaving.
